You linked primal detection of danger with judging, which is a good point. From my pov this is due to the will to control everything, especially others, which is consubstantial to our society values. However, I'm not agree with the positive thinking. Seeing things in terms of good and bad is Manichaean.

The world is complex and we need nuance in everywhere. Dichotomous thinking only leads to misunderstanding the world around us, which generate stress, anxiety and fear.

Then, positive thinking become toxic positivity because no one can state positivity outside if it doesn't come from deep inside.
