Retirement is a nonsense. However, it can be a time when you could improve yourself, help your community or people who have had less luck with life than others.

Years ago I watch a Japanese movie "The Ballad of Narayama" narrating how old people where send to death in the mountains when they didn't have any more possibility to earn their food. They couldn't pay their tribute to the family/society anymore.

For me a healthy society is one where everybody participate--with its own possibilities or competencies--, but the children.
