Stoicism is around two thousand year-old. It makes a resurgence nowadays because people have become anxious and stress more than they should. Imho, if it were really effective more people would use it, especially since a long time.

The problem with stoicism and other philosophies is that they are intellectual constructions relying on weak foundations. We are emotional driven animals. Whatever the discourse, we follow our emotions, and in the action we drop our reason.

For me a practical philosophy would be one that rely on this fact. It would be one that take neuroscience into account: a neurophilosophy.
