Stealing is a modern concept. You're right Romans thought highly of the Egyptians. The one in the middle of Place de la Concorde in Paris make the scene. It is a symbol of what men can achieve, the union of hearts and wills, which produces peace (definition of Concorde, symbol of this place).

When Napoleon's armada went to Egypt he said: "Soldiers, remember that, from the top of these pyramids, forty centuries look down on you."

They are better in Rome and in Paris than in the desert offered to the sight to stupid tourists :)
