Not exactly! You're globally right, however there is still a huge difference between the two. Science favor critical thinking, discussion, sharing of ideas, and progress. Not religion!

And that makes an essential difference. Science promote open-mindedness. There are open minded religious people (there are smart people everywhere) but religion does not promote critical thinking.
