Nice article.
If you're interested take a look at the old town of Nice (France). It was all built and developed in the Middle Ages. Special staircases and shutters, size, orientation, width and water cleaning of the streets were designed to allow airstream to cool naturally. Even shields against sea breeze and the construction of a large fountain on small hill above the city help the air flow.
In the sweltering heat of summer it is always cool to wander in the Vieux-Nice.
