Apart that I'm agree with you on the idea, I think you are wrong on this quote. It is not about testing new things. Not even understand them!

It is about to be able to let it go. Not about reason but about emotion. For decades I was convinced that people have reason. Now I can see that reason comes after emotions. Using the general relativity space curvature, we can model reason and emotion the same way. Let say that reason is the old model of space. Then emotions are the planets that bend reason.

For example we could say that an emotion is identical as a planet that bend reason. A planet like Jupiter with it astronomical gravity force, or bending power, would attract and capture most reason around it.

I have many example about it. Some are funny and other a lot more dramatic. But each time, there was a belief that dazzle the believers, even scientists whatever the number of years in the field. Scientists also are driven by emotions, addictions or fears--they are humans at first after all.

If someone doesn't want to see evidence there is nothing to do. What I want to say is that society made us weak and rigid. Until we change ourselves there is no way that the situation changes...
